Did Adele Just Announce that She’s Completed Her Final Live Tour Ever?

In a Facebook status published on Friday, Adele announced that she’s cancelling the final two performances of her 2017 tour. As the Huffington Post points out, Adele has performed 121 shows in less than two years, and it looks like the strain has affected her vocal chords.

In her emotional Facebook post, she talked about how she pushed herself harder than usual for her last two concerts, and found that her voice didn’t open yesterday. When she visited a doctor, she was told that her vocal chords had been damaged and was advised not to perform anymore. Adele has in the past suffered from a recurrent vocal chord hemorrhage, for which she underwent surgery in 2011 in Boston. She’s received lots of support and commiseration from fans on the post, many of whom were touched by how personally devastated the singer sounded by the announcement.

She’s mentioned that tickets will be refunded if they don’t manage to reschedule the two canceled shows, but the really sad part is that it has been hinted vaguely (by Adele herself in a handwritten note in the program for her Wembley show) that this may very likely be her last tour, as she doesn’t really enjoy touring much. Since these last two shows have been cancelled, it could mean that this was her last live performance, although she may record more music in the future.
