Jayalalithaa’s links with the supernatural have apparently been well-cemented, particularly after her death. As quoted in this Hindustan Times report, there’ve been mysterious robberies, burglary attempts, deaths, murder attempts, violent fights and injuries tied to people who were close to Jayalalithaa, or who worked at Poes Garden, her iconic former residence. There’ve also been stories about mysterious, debilitating heat waves near Jayalalithaa’s mausoleum that have watchmen flummoxed, and of screeching voices and wails at Poes Garden that have put terror in the hearts of all who live there.
Immediately after Jayalalithaa’s death, Sasikala said that she hears Jayalalithaa’s atma telling her every day that she has left her the responsibility of 1.5 crore children. Ten days after her death, an AIADMK leader constructed a temple dedicated to her.
Now, an AIADMK MLA has taken it all one small step further. Mariappan Kennedy has put forward his belief that Jayalalithaa is the 11th avatar of Vishnu. He made this very topical assertion on the actual floor of the Tamil Nadu Assembly during the debates on grants for higher education, before adding that Sasikala was the perfect guide for the party, and TTV Dhinakaran the perfect guiding light.
