An appeal from 19-year-old transperson Shivy to the world

“This is an appeal from Shivy to his parents, relatives, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police. Shivy, 19 years old, is a citizen of India and a resident of United States. He is enrolled in the Neurobiology programme at the university of California, Davis. Shivy identifies as a transgendered person who prefers ‘he’ as a pronoun. His parents are wrongfully depriving him of his passport and green card, all in violation of his essential constitutional rights. Queer activists in Delhi who helped him escape from his natal home in Agra are currently being harassed, intimidated, and wrongfully accused of kidnapping Shivy by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police. Yesterday, Shivy, with help from his lawyers moved to Delhi High Court seeking protection from harassment, intimidation, and coercion and asking for return of his passport and green card. The judge in a remarkable judgement granted Shivy and his friends protection from any harassment by the police. The order from the Delhi High Court was communicated to his parents who have acknowledged receiving the order. Inspite of this, the Police is continuing to harass activists involved in this case.” (text via Shivy’s Youtube video)

Publix, let’s all get with the programme and refer to Shivy as he/him and not add to the situation with misgendering in our support.
