Close on the heels of their last mother-daughter video, which featured a mother and daughter discussing orgasms and sex through food analogies, Culture Machine’s Blush has come out with another video featuring a 21-year-old woman and her mother, but in less hilarious circumstances.
The woman is awaiting the results of her pregnancy test when her mum walks in to put away the laundry, and sees it lying by the sink. Unfortunately, all this happens on the same day as a party her father is throwing to celebrate her decision to take up an internship in the same field as him. This is not a school of parenting most of us are familiar with, so that was a jolly surprise.
Her mother reads some embarrassing messages from her phone, and they have a frank conversation that touched a lot of heartstrings.
The video was enormously well-received by many women on social media, who said it reminded them of their own mothers, or other important women in their lives, and that it was a positive message to spread to parents who may be watching.
The men who commented talking about parents’ reputations, the weight of the choice being on the woman and that she basically made her bed and should lie in it, were smacked down with immediacy in the comments.
Looks like the conversation around pre-marital sex and pregnancy is getting more space in India and that’s a development we welcome with open arms.
