This Chandigarh Brewery Feels What’s Beer Without a Little Misogyny on the Side?

January 11, 2017

The Brew Estate, a Chandigarh microbrewery, was possibly feeling a bit left behind in today’s race for being the most sexist out there. In an attempt to raise the bar of sexism the brewery put up this poster titled “Why Beer is Better than a Woman”, which was brought to our attention on Facebook by a reader, Preeti Pratishruti Dash.

Preeti would like them not to “brew misogyny and sexism”, and we agree — they should stick to the beer. Of course, as we usually are reminded in these situations, the joke is just for “lolz” and this poster would say beers are more chilled out than women, but the reason we don’t chill out is because this kind of casual “lolz” just normalises a culture of disrespect.

Toit in Indiranagar, Bangalore has used the same poster, just in a different order. We’ve seen that Bangalore bars have been making similar sexist jokes for a while now, because it really is difficult to enjoy alcohol without a good dose of sorry puns on the side.
