While watching Konkona Sensharma’s modestly-scaled and very enjoyable new film A Death in the Gunj (set in the last week of 1978), one thing struck us. The dozens of activities that adults participated in while on holiday back when internet wasn’t available and even TV was spotty.

7. Sit by the riverside and not take photos
8. Organise picnics and not take photo
9. Cook and not take photos

13. Focus with varying degrees of meanness and affection on puppies, insects and family members
14. Carry more books than you need
15. Read Gulliver’s Travels
16. Look desperately for loos while on road trips (oh wait, that hasn’t changed)
