These Fairy Tale Princesses Made a Feminist Return. Bonus, See if You Can Spot Lola Kutty?

Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderalla [No Last Name]. Still from East India Comedy Youtube.
It’s been a while since I’ve last seen Anuradha Menon, whom most people remember by her famous alter-ego, the bespectacled Lola Kutty on Channel [V]. She just popped up in a video by East India Comedy full of fairy tale characters with attitude, and an off-screen a Prince Erectile Dysfunction.

The video features Menon as a mother to a young daughter being visited by the overall fed-up trio of Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, who have come to tell her just how problematic these fairy tales are. They talk about the misogyny entrenched in these stories, and also bring out the important fact that they are not just silly stories, but they really do influence how we continue to think about ourselves and the world. They make good points about unrealistic standards of beauty and body image, and the ignominy of a guy named Prince Charming.

I mean, it could be funnier, and probably would be if it was shorter and tighter, but it’s a really good effort. Check it out.
