Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, a website that aims to further the cause of creating a Hindu Rashtra, has a post on their website on why women should never leave their hair untied. While the piece seems to almost regretfully concede that “loose hair might look good”, it lists out all the reasons why women should avoid this “dangerous invitation to negative energies”.
One reason given is that women generally have a high level of the rajas component, which is a component of the universe that is associated with activity and passion, and leaving hair untied increases the rajas component in your hair. According to the website, this component can also to increased passion and frivolity, and is apparently why women are “more emotional” by nature. The website says that an increase in the rajas component also makes a woman’s mind more fickle.
The website goes on to explain that leaving hair untied causes women to be more conscious of their five senses, which can, after a complex conversion of rajas energy into tamas energy (which brings ignorance and inertia), cause an increase in sexual thoughts, leading to promiscuity.
The website reassures men that they are not as badly affected by leaving their hair untied as they have less of the Rajas component, which is why they are less emotional and have a higher ability to fight negativity.
Please yaar, just get out of my hair.
