Indian B-Schools Herald a New Era. Yes, it’s the Same Boys’ Club

Reader Vinutha Mallya, a Bangalore-based editor and a past student of IIM-B’s Management Programme for Women Entrepreneurs, has pointed us to this latest Manel insanity advertised on front pages today. She says, “I would be grateful to anyone who can point out if a woman is included in this grand list of speakers and resource people addressing the first Indian B-Schools Summit — one that will herald ‘a new era in management education in India’!

Most of this list of key resource persons and conference organisers are current and former heads of India’s top management institutes, which makes it amply clear that management education in India is a boys’ club. The only woman involved in this event, it appears, is one of two conference coordinators.

A new era, if there must be one, could do well by reorganising this very conference.”
