The Indian women’s cricket team showed their amazing nerves of steel at Mulapadu on Wednesday. They won against the West Indies women’s cricket team by 15 runs despite getting off on the wrong foot early on, and managed to turn the game around from low batting score of 52-3 after the first half, ending at 199-6.

Champion middle order batter Veda Krishnamurthy (read more about her here) had a big role to play in the victory, scoring 71 runs from 79 balls, as did the left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad and the opener Deepti Sharma, who scored 21 runs.

India won the other two matches in the three match one-day series too, and this means that they are only one point behind West Indies on the International Cricket Council Women’s Championship standings. Now everyone’s just waiting on the interrupted India-Pakistan series to know whether they have a chance of qualifying for the Women’s World Cup in 2017.
