Alison Bechdel of the much adored Dykes to Watch Out For (and also the Bechdel test, divisive everywhere except Sweden) is back. Briefly? For good? We don’t know. Dykes ran from 1983 to 2008 (not coincidentally the end of the Bush administration). Since then she’s been busy oh y’know being a MacArthur Genius, seeing her critically acclaimed graphic novels turned into Broadway plays and so on.
Yesterday Bechdel tweeted this shocker.

Bechdel writes, “Since I stopped drawing Dykes to Watch Out For at the tail end of the Bush administration, people have asked me many times if I thought about my characters, and if so, what they were up to. And I would have to be honest. No, I didn’t think about them, and I had no idea what they were doing.
But last week they all started flooding back.”
