Randeep Hooda Says Women Must be Saved from the World’s ‘Chhoti Soch’. Who Will Save Us from Him?

By Ila Ananya

Have you heard about the show MTV Big F? We didn’t know it existed until we saw Randeep Hooda splashed on the front page of Bangalore Times today, advertising the second season of the show that starts this weekend.

This is the second time we’ve been grossed out with him in the last two weeks (after all the crap he said about Gurmehar Kaur). This time it’s because the show is supposed to be about “stories featuring women’s dreams and desires”, which are #ForbiddenNoMore. “Orgasms don’t have a gender”, the Bangalore Times ad says, so somebody please explain why there’s a man on the cover?

Hooda also tweeted a video promoting the show. It’s 30 seconds long and he’s managed to disgust us in just these 30 seconds. Like cringe-worthy disgust. “Nobody’s girlfriend will be magically liberated by the show, and nor will anybody’s sister get freedom,” Hooda says in the video. Seriously, what a great way to talk about women’s desires, —in terms of all the other people women might be related to because that’s who their “liberation” and “freedom” really is for. “Women have always been free,” Hooda goes on to say, “If there’s anything they need freedom from, it’s from the world’s ‘chhoti soch’”.

Also we saw a tweet that referred to Hooda and said, “#3YearsOfHighway and he is still helping us to go free”, and we seriously wanted to vaanthi (also it was by a dude). That’s also when we saw a longer video advertising the show, and the whole time the women were talking, we could hear Hooda’s voice. They’re doing the things that apparently men do all the time — proposing, climbing up terraces to ask their partners to run away with them, that kind of jazz. In the end, the women say they don’t need men to say all this for them, but really we don’t know what the point of that ad was in the first place.

So what do we do about his and the show’s chhoti soch? Because bro, the only thing right in that video is that we don’t need your show to come to our rescue.
