Hours after this picture re-emerged on Twitter, the social media gods decided to smile upon us. This image from 2014 of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o at a Miu Miu fashion show started going viral — and you can’t deny, it looks like a perfect still from the best buddy comedy you can dream up.
Of course, because it’s the internet, Twitter user @100SADGIRL remarked that she could see the same thing, with Rihanna scamming rich men and Lupita being her cool computer-smart buddy.

Lupita, of course, tweeted she’s in.

And then Rihanna tweeted, saying she’s in.

And then Issa Rae and Ava DuVernay said they’re also in, and then our collective fangirl hearts exploded.

All of these women are known for being strong voices in show business. Rihanna and Nyong’o are big enough in their own right; Issa Rae is the mind behind the hit web-series Awkward Black Girl and the HBO show Insecure, and Ava DuVernay is the first black woman to win a Best Director Prize at Sundance, to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director, and to direct a film with a budget exceeding $100 million. Of course, it’s a bonus that this film — A Wrinkle In Time — is an adaptation of one of the top children’s adventure books off all time, and one of the only few big ones in this category written by a women.
The untitled film is going to be written by Rae, and directed in 2018 by Ava DuVernay. Bought in an “aggressive big” by Netflix, we’re hoping it turns out to be worth the wait. Who knew that memes could come true?
