Hoshangabad Cops Have a Crazy New Idea to Fix Your Online Stalker

But first, lemme take a selfie. You’ve probably heard this line from the Chainsmoker’s song #Selfie many, many times. The Madhya Pradesh police have taken this to a fully new level, with their new campaign, ‘TI Mera Bhai Hai’ (TI stands for Thana Incharge).

What’s the campaign, exactly? School and college girls in Hoshangabad district have been asked to click selfies with the local police and upload them as their profile pictures on WhatsApp. Then they’re supposed to change their status message to ‘TI mera bhai hai’, (TI is my brother). Reports say that more than 500 girls have gone to take selfies with the police within a week after the campaign started.

Apparently, the police started this crazy campaign because they’re certain that profile photos with policemen will scare away any social media stalkers. AP Singh, of the Hoshangabad police, who says he had this selfie idea when he was thinking about how to resolve the problem of a rising number of stalking cases, told the Times of India, “A DP of a selfie with a policewala in uniform is enough to scare a stalker. But if he still presses on, we have our ‘traditional’ ways to solve the problem.”

We don’t know what these ominous-sounding ‘traditional’ ways are, but apparently selfies can totally do better.
