Mastanamma. Still from Country Foods via Youtube

What comes to mind when you hear the words Internet sensation? Is it a 100+ year old woman in a cotton saree cooking chicken in a watermelon squatting in an open field? No? Pity.

Mastanamma is a literal celebrity chef, thanks to the YouTube channel her grandsons started that features her making delicacies like emu egg fry, gongura chicken, duck curry, lamb intestine curry and her famous Watermelon Chicken, which has over 66 lakh views on YouTube. The Huffington Post reports that the channel began as one where they’d post videos of bachelors cooking their own food, but when they decided to tape Mastanamma and post her videos, they noticed how people just automatically loved her and also appreciated her style.

And her style is formally described as freaking adorable. It’s been a really long time since I’ve felt such a rush of overwhelming love for a stranger, and she makes me want to howl in a good way.

She says she’s 106 years old, but doesn’t have a document to prove it. But why would she need one, who lies about being 106 years old? She also hilariously narrates stories from her own life in some of the videos, including an anecdote where she talks about throwing a boy into the river because he touched her hand. There’s one video dedicated to her birthday celebration, and in another, she refers to how much she enjoyed it, and how she especially treasures the birthday card she received from Pakistan. She obviously reminds everyone of their own grandmothers, and if you don’t have any, you’ll wish she was yours.

And of course, she’s also made her own version of KFC, because obviously. Check out her other videos here.
