Marcela Sabiá is a Brazilian artist and she describes herself as a “self love and body positivity enthusiast”, which is also how anyone would describe her after seeing her wonderfully inspiring art.

Just scrolling through her Instagram feed makes you feel better about the world and yourself. She addresses all kinds of issues through her art, from Islamophobia to self-harm to depression, but focuses especially on body image and different ideas of beauty. She has loads of pictures normalising body fat, body hair and pigmentation, and this isn’t a new thing: she’s been posting these consistently inspiring pictures for over two years now.

In a (really beautifully designed) interview with Projeto Curadoria, she says that she started drawing after she was diagnosed with Panic Syndrome, and that she wants to make other people feel better with her art. She also says she’s planning a Youtube channel to talk about her work and motivations, and I personally can’t wait. 🙂

For more body positive art, check out our piece on Indian artist Sudha Pillai’s series, Fat-Bottomed Ladies Rock. Check out the rest of Marcela Sabiá’s work here.
