If you are a bibliophile and live in Delhi, we have great news for you. The Community Library Project (TCLP) is conducting a fundraiser at Lodhi Road, New Delhi on 29 and 30 June. TCLP’s The Great Book Giveaway is an event where you can just drop in, learn about the library movement, and make a contribution to keep its library going. In exchange you can take any book of your choice from their vast Giveaway collection.
Your donation will help TCLP fill libraries with books, recruit library staff, train community leaders, organize read-aloud and fluency programs, conduct workshops on gender, career counselling, theatre, dance and so on. They would also be able to develop curriculum and fund library infrastructure through it.
Watch this super cute video of Milan and Sania, the mother-daughter duo, who share a deep bond with this library and are growing together in this world of books.
The Community Library Project is working towards providing access for everyone to books. They are a low-cost, volunteer-driven citizen initiative and are committed to the movement for a publicly owned library system that is accessible to all. These libraries welcome all and are driven by the motto of ‘Reading Is Thinking’ – an especially powerful idea in underserved communities, where a large majority are first-generation readers.
So save the date and relish amidst books and spend your weekend giving back to fellow bibliophiles.
