We Might Have a Serial Hair Chopper in Haryana and It’s as Bizarre as It Gets

We’ve all heard of serial killers, but serial hair choppers? According to a report, a woman named Sunita in Gurgoan, Haryana has registered a complaint with the police for having her hair chopped off mysteriously. She claims that she saw a ‘thin, young man’ outside her door holding a trident in his hand. After she shooed him away, he reappeared. After which, she lost consciousness and woke up with her hair chopped off. Wut?

She reported that her house was not ransacked and that the only thing that had disappeared was her long plait of hair. There has been no evidence of any external wounds on her body.

Adding to this report, this isn’t an isolated incident. Although Sunita’s was the first one registered in Gurgaon, there have been similar reports registered in Nuh, Haryana. Apparently, more than a dozen women in Nuh have reported to have their hair cut off in a mysterious series of events. According to a report, most of these women lost consciousness after seeing ‘strange-looking young men, shadows and “cat-like” creatures’. Again, the women’s health and household belongings have been reported to be intact. Curiouser and curiouser.

The police is, of course, puzzled by these series of events. Both in Nuh and in Gurgaon, FIRs have been registered under Section 509 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the IPC. Additionally, the Gurgaon police has also started looking into CCTV footages.

We have no shortfall in the land of the strange, but the curious case of the serial hair cutter is as hilarious as it bizarre. It’s almost a Sweeny Todd meets Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, version India, sans the murder. We can only look on and see if it gets stranger. As for the other women in the area, sab baal baal bach gaye.
