The Kochi Metro has been in the news this last week for all the right reasons. It has a workforce that’s comprised 80 percent by women employees. It’s also the first government organisation to hire transgender people (they’ve hired 23 transgender people as ground staff). It’s a wonderful move, and fits right in with the Kerala’s government’s pioneering Transgender Policy of 2015.
This new video, shared by Kerala Information on Facebook, depicts transgender Metro employees telling you exactly how you should and should not treat them. Perhaps Malayalam speakers out there will appreciate the subtle sass in what they say, but since there are sub-titles, it’s a must-watch for everyone. Take it as a primer on how to treat people wherever you meet them, not just on the Kochi Metro.
