Fukrey is a fun and crimes film, the genre which Guy Ritchie mastered with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Except that it is done in a funjabi style and it is set in Delhi. The film not only wastes time in establishing its lead males but wastes its strong female lead characters as well.
While one is mildly entertained and doesn’t feel that money was wasted, the film definitely doesn’t clear the reasonable benchmark set by cartoonist Allison Bechdel and her karate instructor friend Liz Wallace. That is despite having Richa Chadda play a kickass gangster who runs all sorts of scams and nefarious businesses from inside one kothi. It even has the boys being schooled into growing up by the three rather strong female leads but no two of the three have a single scene together.
